  • Worldmachine 2 (building realistic heightmaps, blendmaps, lightmaps, normalmaps)

3D Modelling

Texturing

  • The Gimp
  • CrazyBump (create normal, displacement, diffuse, occlusion and specular maps from a texture)

Shaders

  • RenderMonkey (test your shaders easily)

Skybox

  • SkyPaint Panorama Editor (preview your skybox)

Trees & vegetation

  • Tree[d] (easy tree generation)
